It is between “I thought I’d seen it all” and “I’m building on the Rock of Ages” The latter for the harmonies.
Definately “Sweetest Waste of Time”. It’s been my favorite since I first heard it on the all bluegrass radion station just outside Paducah, KY, while travelling to Nashville. Looking forward to an equally good new song on the next CD! Thanks
It would be a tossup between “Light from Heaven” and “Last thing On His Mind.”
Probably “Last Thing,” but the other jumped out because I knew it from the Collingsworths’ rendition (and a couple of others).
I love “Corn” not only for the music and the harmonies, but for the celebration of a simple life- one that I’m afraid has passed many of us by. What a great song- what a great CD!
I too love “corn” and the reason I am drawn to the song is because being a divorced woman at the age of 28 I’ve realized this is the type of love I WANT! The kind of love that my grandparents and parents have!!! This song sums up the love that I’ve been surrounded by my entire life and now it’s what I want! Great song and great “sweethearts” singing it makes it even better!
You leave me with a seemingly impossible choice because I like all of them, but if I would have to choose, it would be “Im Building On The Rock Of Ages” because of the harmony (harmony though is outstanding on all of them) and the message which is the way we all should lead our lives. Second would be “Moses” I think.
This was a tough choice. but, the one I find myself singing along to the most is “It moves me”
Wow, that is such a tough vote! I like them all but if I had to choose my top 3, it would be as follows:
1. Corn
2. Let’s Not Go There
3. I’m Building On The Rock Of Ages
I like the words and meaning behind the first two choices and I really like the harmony with choice #3. Overall, I love the way that I feel inside while listening to your beautiful voices and instruments playing. May God continue to bless you!
My favorite is “Last Thing on His mind” because It is such a moving song about what Christ did for us and the price he had to pay, so that we could live with him in eternity. I cry just about every time I hear it. I love to hear your wonderful voices on that song. My children love “Corn” and request that I play it every time that we get into my vehicle. My family has enjoyed listening to all of the songs on the CD.
I love all of them but probably the best is The Last Thing on His Mind
I love them all…..but I really like “Something Out of Nothing,” and “Building on the Rock of Ages.” Love love love the vocals on both! But again I love them all!
They’re all GREAT! I think the one with the most reason to think is “The Last Thing on HIS Mind,” but I find myself going back to “Building on the Rock of Ages” time after time. Apparently the station listeners agree, as those are the two I get requests for. Keep up the good work! Praying for you every day!!
We love the entire CD. Each song sounds like it was written especially for the two of you and your band. My special favorites are: “Moses” and “Corn”. In fact, I made reference to this song in my Sunday school lesson last Sunday, when we were discussing Moses’ life.
“Corn” is now “our song” for Kenny and I. It depicts many aspects of our life together, and the land we love, which are his cabin, and the farm. The front porch has two adirondack chairs, and it overlooks huge fields, a faded red barn, and stares into the face of Yellow Mountain; as well as having a wood stove which can keep us quite warm in the winter. So, it has captured “us”.
I love the CD because I think it is true to the heart of you all. You show that you care deeply for one-another, for your families, for your relationship with God, and for carrying that message to the world through your music. The guys who play with you are wonderful men and extremely talented musicians, but have not lost themselves in the process of making music.
Thank you for sharing your gifts,
Vicki Wise
I cannot tell you how much we have enjoyed your music. I keep the CD in my radio by my bed so that each morning I get to hear the beautiful music as I start my day. My favorite is “The Last Thing on His Mind” but of course my husband disagrees and says it is “Moses. But they are all great songs. The harmony and vocals really make you stop, listen and say WOW! May God bless you both.
“Building on the Rock of Ages” still says it all for me.I can’t see how those who don’t have that “Rock” makes it through this world in the condition its in today. I just know that I need Him always and I thank Him every day for loving me enough to die for me!
I love all of the CD, I think it is a wonderful arrangement of good traditional bluegrass. One of the best, if not the best I have heard. Keep up the good work, I love you all.
Norma & I love the whole CD alot, but our fav is (Lets Not Go There), we have been dating for around 7 months and we both have alot behind us but looking foward to whats ahead and we think this song should go # 1, the words are so true and everyone can relate, thks Darin & Brook, you guys take care and hang in there your day is comming
I love all of the songs on the new CD, but my very favorite is “Building on the Rock of Ages”.
Hey, guys !! Hope you’re having a good week. When I heard the CD, the first song I heard was “Building on the Rock of Ages” and I thought to myself, this is my favorite song. Then I heard the second song and I thought to myself, this is my favorite song and so it went that way through the entire CD. If I had to choose only one song, it would be “The Last Thing on His Mind.”
This song makes me feel so humble to know what was sacrificed for me at Calvary. Don’t we have a great God!!!
With Ash Wednesday having been 2-17-2010; at this time I think it is appropriate to say that
The Last Thing on His Mind is my pick. I love them all; however; how timely this particular song was released prior to this Lent season. It is such a testimony and what a great job Brooke does singing from her emotions with these lyrics.
Your talent amazes me, I would choose The Last Thing on His Mind……….but it was a tough choice.
The entire album is absolutely fantastic. I like every song. I have a long commute in SoCal and your album will keep me company often. It lifted my spirts enroute to work this morning. So glad I heard you on the XM program. Sure would enjoy attending a performance someday.
How can I pick one! I’m not sure I can pick just three! Sweetest waste of time is such a great duet, corn makes me smile every time I hear it, and I’ll never tire of building on the rock of ages. Building on the rock of ages probably gets the most play on my ipod so I guess it would be my favorite. Looking forward to your festival in April.
It’s hard to pick a favorite off of your new CD. I love all of the songs. They all have a great message. The other night I was having a down moment and your CD was playing and “Light from Heaven” came on and made me remember no matter what we go through GOD is always with us. I also like Corn, it reminds me that the best things in life can’t be bought.
Everything I heard sounds great, best of Luck with your music.
The Last Thing On His Mind is awesome
Without hesitation, my favorite is the “Sweetest Waste of Time.” First of all, the overall sound and arrangement transcends about four different music genres–traditional country, contemporary country, bluegrass, along with a good measure of Americana. Secondly, the harmonies are impeccable and heartfelt. Thirdly, the instrumental work is masterful—every guitar, mandolin, dobro and fiddle accent throughout the song beautifully cradles the singing. I also feel that this is the most marketable and “Opry-ready” song of the project. Bravo, Darin & Brooke and band!
Enjoyed to CD
Sweetest Waste of Time and Something Out of Nothing
I have two: The Last Thing On His Mind is absolutely one of the most beautiful songs about the love our Father had for us in sacrificing His Son. I cry ever time I listen to it and imagine my face in Christ’ mind as He prayed about, contemplated on and carried His cross to Calvary.
Corn is my second favorite…makes you want to go back to a simpler time when sitting with your forever love side-by-side in two rocking chairs was all you needed to be happy!
Love you guys, love your music!
I’m Building On The Rock of Ages, is awesome. Love their harmony on this song.
Gee it’s hard to choose, but I would have to say “Corn” and “Light From Heaven”. ….or “Light From Heaven” and “Corn”! Right now they tie for first, but on another day, another mood, my choice might be different.
From the first track to the last, Picking a favorite song is near impossible. I have alot of favorite CD’s in which I listen to 4 or 5 songs. This CD I can just let it play straight through all 12 tracks, it’s that good !! ( I Thought I’d Seen it All ) is hard to beat tho. A great lead off the CD with a Bang track. Corn, The Last Thing on his Mind is a GEM too . I look forward to seeing you guys in Connecticut this summer.
Looks good I will meet with Gibson Mill fri. then let you know
I am enjoying many of the songs on this CD but “Building on the Rock of Ages” is my favorite. I would place “Corn” and “I Thought I’d seen it All” in the next places.
I can’t choose a favorite. I like “Light from Heaven” because it’s a song of encouragement, and because my boys always want to hear that one and sing along. “It Moves Me” is a song I can relate to because I so often am moved by the beauty and wonder of God’s creation. “Last Thing on His Mind” is a great reminder of why Jesus went to the cross. The lyrics on that one are well written. I like all of the other songs too. The whole album is great.
My favorite is “Last Thing on His Mind.” I enjoyed the entire CD. This song is so “annointed” to me. It was like hearing you live. I got “truth bumps” as I thought of what Jesus has done for each of us. My favorite “non-gospel-type” song is “Let’s Don’t Go There.” I believe we waste a lot of energy thinking about things in the past we can’t change. Best of luck with all your endeavors. Hope to see you in person again. I will never forget the experience at Aaron Baptist Church.
I love the song last thing on his mind. It touches my heart everytime I hear it. Thank you
Something Out of Nothing—great music and voice as always
I love your cd! The whole thing is awesome. But I really like “It Moves Me”, “Corn”, & “The Last Thing on His Mind”. These songs really touch my heart, especially “The Last Thing on His Mind”. All of your songs celebrate the beauty of life and the need of Christ in all of our lives. Being an instrumentalist and a singer also, you all have greatly encouraged me to keep going. You all are awesome. — Hannah R. Daniel, 17
My 2 favorites are “I’m building on the Rock of ages” and “The last thing on his mind.” My 9 year old son will sing along with me in the car to these 2 songs and that is such a blessing. I enjoy both of these songs and the message they bring. God bless.
I love the harmonics on I’m Building On The Rock Of Ages….
My favorite song is Building On the Rock of Ages. It is so beautiful and I hope it will be your next single.
My favorite song on your CD is “Sweetest Waste of Time.” It is hard to choose. All of the songs are so wonderful.
My favorite is “Last Thing On His Mind.” It’s just such a beautiful song! It reminds me of what Jesus did for me. Love that song! It is one of my favorite songs of all time. Keep up the good work!

I heard “Sweetest Waste of Time” on XM on day. I almost wrecked the Rover looking for a pen to write yall’s name down. It took me two weeks before I found out the name of the song and your names. Just great stuff. I’m a buyer and believer in your ministry through music. I was going to see if ya needed a mandolin player but see you’ve got that pretty well covered!!!
“Sweetest Waste of Time ” is brilliant – the classic duet!
can’t get it off repeat currently it’s flawless
I’m a new listener to bluegrass and heard the song “corn” on sirius radio today. It is a new “our” song for me and my husband who is currently overseas…it’s a simple life that we strive to have someday for our family! Will definetely be buying a cd!!
“Remind Me Again” was playing on SIRIUS radio whem I came home from work last night. The words, chord selections, and the way you switched harmonies just tore me up! If it were possible to beat “Sweetest Waste of Time” this, in my mind would be the song. If it were possible I’d nominate it “song of the decade”. Thank you for doing that song for me.
My absolute favorite is “Last Thing On His Mind”. My husband and I heard this song when you visited Hulls Grove – North Site and we both were on the edge of sobbing. Its an absolutely beautful song. My next favorite is “I’m Building on the Rock of Ages”
My favorite song from “Darin & Brooke Aldridge” would have to be “Corn.” It is one of the sweetest love songs I’ve ever heard, and it shows that you only need the simple things in life to be happy. Although “Sweetest Waste of Time” would have to be a close second, with its amazing harmony.
just love the sweetest waste of time. heard it on radio and been trying to locate the album. terrific song!!!!!!

Darin & Brooke, we heard you for the first time at the MACC festival in Columbus, OH just a week ago and we LOVE your music; bought your CD, “Darin & Brooke Aldridge” – love it!! CORN is my favorite song because that IS my house; barn, fireflies, rocking chairs, farm house, field, and all!
My question for you is…. Where can I find guitar chords for your song “Corn”? I would love to sit on my porch swing and play “Corn”. Would appreciate any help you can send.
You all take care and come to Michigan some time!
Blessings,
Glenda
